The Right Path

Looking back on four years of nomading across the world brings back so many wonderful memories. But there’s a truly special one I’ve never shared with you - until now.

Six months after going nomadic, a talented documentary filmmaker and friend was searching for answers on the right path to take in her life. She joined me as I trekked through the desert for a week. At the end of journey, she found her answer and gave me a wonderful gift:

A mini documentary called The Right Path.

To this day, I find it ironic this piece is titled The Right Path as I have no idea what that is. Some people think I have it all figured out –pursuing my wildest dreams while still working and helping people along the way.

But the truth is, I still struggle to figure out which direction to chart in life and I constantly let fear get in the way of realizing my dreams. For example, this was filmed nearly four years ago. But I never released it because I was afraid of not doing “the right way.”

But now, nearly four years later, as I watch the beautiful gift she created and listened to the words of a wide-eyed traveler setting off on his adventure, it seems I held the answer long ago:

“Whatever path you take, whatever decision you make, whatever direction you choose, is going to be the right one at the end of the day.  So long as you do it purposefully and are satisfied with how you spent your time, everything is going to work out just fine.”

You see, I let perfection and fear stand in the way of sharing something beautiful.

So, to my friend who made this: thank you for creating something so beautiful. I’m sorry I kept it locked away for so long. I’m so very grateful.

And to whoever is reading this: I hope that you experience your wildest dreams in life. I hope you make the most of every minute you are given. And I hope that you sleep well at night, knowing that the path you chose was the right one.
