Letās face it: as far as momās go, thereās no one better than you. Youāre caring, creative, and compassionate - and taught me to always tell the truth, always make your guests feel welcome, and always do your best āØ
ļ»æ
ļ»æIām sorry that Iām half way across the world and unable to celebrate with you in person and that technically speaking your birthday was yesterday, but you know - time zones š¬
ļ»æ
ļ»æBut since I canāt be there for you to pick on me in person - letās take a trip down memory lane and share one of my favorite memories:
ļ»æ
ļ»æYou may remember one day in high school my buddy Dave came over - but I wasnāt allowed to leave until I cleaned my room š
ļ»æ
ļ»æKnowing the stickler you can be, Dave and I rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We spent an hour cleaning my bedroom from top to bottom. And we left no stone unturned š§¼
ļ»æ
ļ»æWe made the bed. Vacuumed. Feather dusted. Washed the windows. Polished the furniture. Picked up every single trinket on every shelf and wiped them sparkling clean. We did an absolute perfect job. It was spotless. There was no way we could fail š
ļ»æ
ļ»æSo, I called you in for an inspection. You took one step into the room, pulled a white cotton glove out of your pocket, turned around, placed your finger on top of the door frame, wiped off a fingertip of dust, dropped the glove, and closed the door behind you š¦
ļ»æ
ļ»æIf that doesnāt explain the way that I turned out the way I did, nothing will š
ļ»æ
ļ»æMom, you may have scarred me for life and made me forever afraid of dust and door frames, but you also taught me to be as thorough as possible, to leave no stone unturned, and that if youāre going to do something - make sure you do it right š¤
ļ»æ
ļ»æIām sorry that Iām homeless vagabond that hasnāt given you any grandchildren. But you also taught me to follow my dreams and that no matter what I set out to do in life I could achieve it if I worked hard enough and didnāt get myself arrested š
ļ»æ
ļ»æI hope Iāve made you proud.
ļ»æ
ļ»æHappy Birthday. I love you š
