We all float on 🧊

Last month, I hiked the largest glacier in South America. Standing over 240 feet tall and nearly 100 miles long, Perito Moreno is the largest ice field in the world accessible by land and one of the few glaciers that’s still growing.

And as I took stock of this beautiful block of ice slowly breaking away into Lake Argentina, it got me thinking about life. And how we’re really all the same.

A glacier’s life begins in the water. It evaporates, rises, takes shape, falls atop a mountain, hardens over time, and becomes a part of something bigger. On the surface, the ice appears strong and stable. But beneath the surface, it cracks, breaks down, re-shapes, and changes. Slowly and impermissibly, it begins to flow.

And ultimately, over centuries, the ice breaks one final time, crumbles into the water, and returns to source - until the process begins anew. And so do we, I believe.

Each of us emanate from source and will shape and harden over time from the weight of own environment and experiences. We become part of something bigger.

And, much like glaciers, we too will crack, break down, re-shape, and change over the course of our lives. Although much of this occurs beneath the surface as well. And in the end, our bodies will break down, as we slowly flow toward the end, and return to source. Hopefully to begin anew, in time ✨

We are all one, you see. None of us are vastly different from another. We all change and evolve beneath the surface. Slowly and imperceptibly.

And we’ll all float on okay…
