When I set off to travel the world, I made it a point to give back in every place I lived. I started off donating used bicycles, advocating for mental health, and taking care of stray cats. But somewhere along the way I lost sight of that mission 😞
So, when my friend Tiana shared her frustration about seeing trash pile up in her neighborhood, I jumped at the opportunity to pitch in. She took the initiative to organize a neighborhood clean up so that a handful of friends, thoughtful neighbors, and I could spend our Sunday morning picking up the pieces. And while a dozen bags of trash in a Charleston suburb won’t change the world, it’s a start.
And we all felt good knowing we did our part ✨
Each of us has the ability to change the world for the better. Whether it’s volunteering our time, holding the door open for a stranger, or just picking up some trash on our afternoon walks.
What we do in this life makes a difference. We all have the power to shape the world around us, inspire change, and make a meaningful difference within our given time. And in doing so, we could leave this world a better place than how we found it.
And wouldn’t that be a life well lived?
