Returning to my Roots 🌱

Today, I turn 41 years old and man it sure feels weird to write that 😅 I mean, I don’t feel like I’m getting old. I still feel like I’m just a big kid. I still love playing games, having fun, making people smile, wandering the world, chasing my dreams, and making friends.

But at this point of my life, I feel like I should be settling down, having children, and focusing on business. In other words, be a grown up. In fact, as far as I can remember, I’ve always felt like I had to BE something or BE somebody. Or live up to the expectations society has for us. When did it stop being okay to just be yourself, even if it means just being a big kid? 😕

As I’ve been approaching this middle point of my life, I’ve spent a lot time reflecting on who I am and how I’m spending time. And I realized that, at times, I’ve gotten caught up in all the stress and expectations of being a grown up. I find myself being busy all the time - running from one achievement and one place to the next - just busy being busy. As if being busy is some grownup badge of honor 😒

And I realized that’s not who I am. Or who I want to be. And that’s definitely not how I should be spending my time in life. And how perhaps, even at this age, I should stop caring about doing “grown up” things and instead focus on what really matters:

Like being a good person. Being there for my family, my friends, and the people I love.

And being someone who made a difference in this world in the limited time he had in life.

And so, it’s time that I return to my roots.

… and no, that doesn’t mean I’m going to settle down and stop traveling the world 😅

But instead, I’m reviving a dream I started seven years ago to leave this world a better place through community service.

It’s called Let’s Plant a Seed 🌱 And I hope you’ll check it out sometime and join me in making this world a better place, together.

Until then, I’ll just continue being that 41 year old big kid who loves to play, make people smile, wander the world, chase my dreams, and make friends along the way. And so, from one big kid to another:

Thank you, for being my friend.
