Happy Birthday, Brother 🧔🏻‍♂️

You know those superheroes people admire? Iron Man. Spiderman. Thor. Those are just make believe. It’s time to meet my brother, Keith.

Keith has always been extraordinary. A child prodigy, he nearly aced his SATs in seventh grade. He is the former Commander of the Coral Springs Squadron of Civil Air Patrol, where he volunteered to lead a team of cadets in disaster relief, search and rescue, and how to save people’s lives.

Now, Keith saves peoples lives for a living. As the Senior Planner at Palm Beach County’s Division of Emergency Management, he is single-handedly responsible for keeping tens of thousands of seniors alive when disasters strike.

He makes sure that every assisted living facility in South Florida has an airtight plan to ensure the most vulnerable members of our community have a definite path to safety should a disaster arise, coordinates food and shelter in disaster areas for those in need, and rides out the most severe of hurricanes in the shelters by their side.

He may not have a fancy cape, trusted sidekick, or overly-priced action figure. But he’s an unsung hero - a modern day superhero behind the scenes - who rarely receives the recognition he deserves.

So today, please join me in recognizing this remarkable human being on his birthday - a man who is caring, creative, generous, thoughtful, hard working, and above all, incredibly kind.

I know life isn’t always easy, but you are loved, respected, and admired. Mom would be proud of you. Dad surely is. And I know I am.

I hope you feel the love today, brother. You are one of a kind.
