After a month in Asheville, I was ready to roll down to the Big Easy and spend a couple weeks in New Orleans 🙌
Contrary to popular belief, New Orleans isn’t just about Bourbon Street, bachelor parties, and binge drinking - although there’s plenty of it 😅 It is a cultural and culinary experience that will chew you up, spit you out, and keep you coming back for more 💫
What started out as a short work trip to deliver my first speeches to a live audience in over a year turned into a two week jaunt across one of my favorites cities in America - and I’m excited to share the experience with you 📣😄
I setup shop in a century old loft in the French Quarter - where the streets are lined with rich historical architecture, horse drawn carriages, and drunk people letting loose and passing out on the side of the road. Needless to say, it was an experience 😬
My apartment overlooked the infamous Lalaurie Mansion - one of the many haunted historical sites in the city. The french quarter is home to ghastly ghost tours, various voodoo shops, and spooky cemeteries around every corner 👻 I even spent one evening hunting ghosts and speaking to spirits in an abandoned apartment and the memories still haunt my nightmares 😳
But Nola isn’t all ghosts and ghouls, it’s home to some of the best cuisine in the country. Whether you’re wolfing down a pound of crawfish, sipping a sugary Pimm’s Cup while downing a dozen charbroiled oysters, or pounding a po’ boy after a night of heavy drinking - you certainly won’t be leaving hungry 🦞
Culturally speaking, the Crescent City offers something special for everyone. Whether savoring jazz at The Spotted Cat, riding the St. Charles street car, or literally letting loose and earning some beads at Mardi Gras, the good times are always rolling 🎭
Simply put, there’s no place in the U.S. like Nola, and I’m grateful to have lived like a local in the city that never sleeps or sobers up 🥴
So, as the Saints coming marching in, it’s time for me to march down to Miami for a wedding and then off to my next destination - wherever that may be 🤷🏻♂️
