Two years ago today I was sitting in my bedroom, staring up a chalk board on my wall of all the things i wanted out of life, and realized it was time to travel the world.
So many things went through my mind: How would i do this? What would i need? Where would i go? And the last question really excited me.
At that time in my life, i had spent ten years living in New York, about twenty years in Florida, and a ton of trips along the way. But i had no idea what life was truly like in other places.
I wanted to design a lifetime full of new and exciting experiences that were different from what I knew and would help me to learn more about myself and the world around me. So, I stood up, grabbed a piece of chalk, and started scribbling down all the places in the united states that excited me.
I first wrote Boulder Colorado, a small city at the foothills of the rocky mountains i had visited for an afternoon but knew i wanted return one day. I then wrote San Diego California to experience what a relaxing life was like on the west coast. I next wrote Santa Fe, New Mexico, because I wanted to live in a pueblo near the desert and eat everything colored in green and red chili.
My list included the tropical islands of Hawaii, the wilderness of Alaska, the hipster vibe of Austin, the adventurous terrain of Utah, and the old west of Jackson Wyoming. And by and large, I’ve been lucky enough to to see them all. But there was one special place on my list i’ve yet to visit...
And that’s Portland, Maine 🙌
I’ve always dreamed of living in a small coastal city, looking out over the Atlantic, and watching the sail boats slowly drift out in the harbor. I wanted to walk amongst its colonial streets, hike its jagged, rocky coastline, and enjoy all the cold beer, clams, and lobster rolls i could get my hands on. It’s been a long time coming.
So, this morning I awoke at dawn, hopped on a plane, and stared out the window as we flew north above the eastern shoreline. I can almost see the lighthouses beckon in the distance ✨
It’s time for my next adventure. It’s time for the Maine event 🙌
