Life is too short to let things pass you by, so while Salt Lake City was social distancing, I set out to tackle all of its outdoor adventures ⛰
My favorite times over the last month have been spent out in nature, exploring the wilderness, and getting lost in great outdoors. Here’s some of the highlights:
My first big adventure was exploring Antelope Island which featured stunning views of the Great Salt Lake and hoards of freely roaming bison. Pro tip: don’t drive too close or you’ll have to speed away to save your life 😳
My next trek was a hike through Big Cottonwood Canyon to Lake Blanche with my friend and Crossfit coach Natalie. We may not have packed nearly enough water and SOMEONE might have misjudged the hike by more than a few miles, but we had one helluva time. Spoiler alert: it was me 🤷🏻♂️
Next up was a trip to the Bonneville Salt Flats which was one of the most serene and unusual landscapes I’ve encountered. If anyone knows how to get thirty pounds of salt off the bottom of a rented jeep wrangler please let me know 😬
After that, a fun 8-mile hike through Little Cottonwood Canyon across the Red Pine Lake Trail. I had a tough time keeping up with my endurance athlete friends Ari and Meghan (note to self: get less fit friends) - but I pretty much made it back in one piece 😅
Beyond that, I summited a peak in Sundance (and busted ass on the way down), had way too many drinks with Zack Holland and his dad, and played around in one of my favorite ski towns, Park City🎿
With social distancing being a thing here in Salt Lake, I didn’t make many friends outside of the gym - which was a bummer - but I’m so glad to have spent quality time with the SLC Crossfit family. Thanks for all the friendship and heavy deadlifts 🙌
After two months, my adventures here in Utah have come to a close. Today, I set off to tackle the last of the old west:
Jackson Hole, here I come!
