We’ve all dreamed of living in far off places. Whether it’s soaking up the sun in some tropical paradise, overlooking the ocean in Santorini, or sipping wine in Italy’s Amalfi Coast - each of us have our own unique vision of paradise 🏖
As for me, I just wanted to eat lobster from a shack in the harbor of some small coastal town while watching sailboats float out in a harbor 😅 And for a moment, that dream has come true✨
After spending nearly six months in the south, I’ve spent my last ten days living life in the quaint coastal city of Portland, Maine 🗺 Situated on a small peninsula, Portland feels like an effortlessly charming small town adorned with tree lined streets, rustic Victorian architecture, and red brick warehouses that align the Old Port overlooking the harbor ⛵️
Life moves slower here, as people tend to their gardens, shuck shellfish, and sit out along the promenades watching the sun paint the sky pink as it sets majestically over the sea 🌅 But don’t let it’s small town vibe fool you. Portland is known for its nightlife, nautical adventures, and named one the nation’s best food cities on numerous occasions 🍴
So far, I’ve ferried out to the local islands where I shucked oysters, sipped cold ones, and swapped stories with the locals 👨🏻🚒 I’ve biked down it’s rocky coastline stopping at every little lighthouse, lobster shack, and local brewery I can find along the way 🍻 And you better believe I’ve eaten every clam, mussel, and lobster roll that I can get my hands on - and I have no intention of slowing down 🤤
My new life in New England this summer is just getting started, and it’s a dream come true to finally explore this part of the country ☀️
